Taking a Moment

This shot taken last week is a perfect example of why I love mobile photography.  Taking only a moment, if  I spot something interesting to me, I can still capture something instead of missing it – Thanks iPhone 3Gs. While sitting in the drive-thru of a McDonalds (I had a short lunch break during the Global Leadership Summit on Friday), my eyes were still open to these opportunities.

I’m really interested to see what comes tomorrow with the Apple Event.  I’m longing for a new and advanced iPhone for going further with mobile photography!

Nothing is too Simple

I try and share every one of my Instagram photos into my Flickr account.  The reason for that? Old habits die slowly.  I still see it as a place that I can drop images.  This could be the downfall of 500px at this point – I don’t have a way to share images easily to 500px yet and the quality is so strong on 500px that I don’t want to put my mobile shots there.

Considering the digital sanctuary, I don’t invest any time into Flickr but it’s a great way to grab images quickly.   Investing in my own real estate is a bigger deal to me.  This doesn’t mean to never share things beyond my own domains, but it means I use a platform like Flickr to find interesting data.

This Instagram shot had 100x more views that most shots on Flickr and 3 favorites.  I have no idea how many “Likes” it received within the Instagram freed, but I can’t overlook that this simple mobile photo (taken from a moving vehicle) caught more attention than a lot of my other images.  I see this as some great motivation.

Photos of the sky will will always captivate us. I’m certain of it now.

Nothing is too simple.

Captivated by the Sky

It’s been 10 days since I mentioned a website I’m working on for my own Instagram (and more secrets) photography. Since that post, I haven’t had much time at all to work on it as it’s not priority. Wedding photography edits, engagement photography edits, lifestyle edits, and being a WooThemes Ninja are all priority (hence the post earlier today). In all the hectic priority stuff, I noticed that when out of the house, I’ve been captivated by the sky.

Almost as popular as cat photos, sky photos are pretty big on Instagram. A tip that I won’t ramble on about is to not apply much of a filter to sky images or they get really nasty, quickly. I don’t think anyone can really take too many photos of the sky though. It’s captivated humans long before the mobile phone (and since forever). I wonder if that that natural curiosity about the sky will ever go away. I mean in an evolutionary sense like that we’ve explored so much that there is little wonder anymore?

In 10,000 years will we still be taking photos of the sky?

Adding Flare

For architectural photography, I’m looking to create my own ritual. I’ve noticed some things that help me prepare and lead into the greater final images. Here is one example. I’m not going to get too much into it because this is something that I’ll probably end up sharing elsewhere.

Point is that I’m finding Instagram to be invaluable to myself as a creative.

Working on Insta Website

Insta[SOON]?

I’m working on a website to display my Instagram Photography and a few other goodies. I wanted a really clean an simple place on the internet for them! The website isn’t finished yet but it’s getting there. The thing about Instagram is the instantaneous form factor. I’ve talked about instagram photography vs dslr photography on nuwomb.com, but it’s something I think about even greater these days. With a great deal of interests, instant photography lets me explore the field yet not spend time behind the screen. When behind the screen, I enjoy playing with websites and graphics.

Isn’t it weird? That said, I still love my post-processing time and love creating photography. I just continue to notice the easy and quickness of mobile photography like Instagram.

I’ll try and update you with anything interesting about the site. I can’t wait as it will give me reasons to go out and explore unknown areas!

PS Hope you like the few changes here too :)
