London Ontario Real Estate Photography: 67 Wyatt St

Spring is here and the people of London, Ontario are looking to list their homes.  I was contacted by The Lobseller Brothers of Century 21 First Realty Corp to help shoot the real estate photography for 67 Wyatt St.

Instantly, I was presented with a challenging situation for shooting. I shoot with a Sony A7II camera and my battery was dying. Naturally, I tried charging it before the shoot; however, it didn’t gain any charge. In hopes of surviving a real estate shoot, which typically go pretty quick, I picked up another battery and prayed for it to come partially charged.

No luck.

Once at 67 Wyatt St, the battery displayed exhausted as I took a couple of photos. Worst nightmare realized. All I could do was make the best use of my iPhone 6 that I could and this was not anywhere close to ideal for shooting real estate photography. Thankfully, I would return the next day to shoot the basement unit of the property and try to figure out my camera/battery issue overnight.  Long story short, the issue with my camera/battery was non-existent.

Long story short, the issue with my camera/battery was non-existent. The problem existed with the cable required to charge.  With that figured out and multiple batteries charged, I was able to grab a few wide images in the basement unit.

Better Prepared

This first shoot for Spring was not how I wanted the photography to go down. I’m thankful that I was still able to get images for the property. In all my past work, this was the first time a battery issue plagued me. Now, I’m prepped with a working cable, 3 fully charged batteries and multiple memory cards. I’m simply glad there was not a bigger issue with the A7II camera that could have resulted in necessary servicing. This reminds me to definitely keep my Nikon D300 DSLR as a backup too. 3 camera batteries sounds like a lot but I’ve learned that the batteries don’t last as long in mirrorless cameras. As a wedding photographer, I should probably have double.
