Scott Webb Photography Roundup, February

What have I been up to in the short month of February?

To start, I have to say that February has to be my least favorite month. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always felt extremely down in February. 2017 was no exception. I spend the last few days of the month feeling terrible. This doesn’t mean I wasn’t able to keep pushing forward throughout the month, through.

Here is a quick roundup of some of the wins and the things for which I’m grateful from February 2017.

Updated Homepage

In February, I released a new and updated homepage for Scott Webb Photography. As I see photography changing, I needed to present a homepage that reflected how I intend to help architecture firms and the photography of architecture.

There are still some elements that I need to incorporate so that my overall vision is clearly shared. I enjoy that I’ve got a short motion video clip. The direction I’m taking requires a lot of additional work, but standing still will do nothing in the long run.

I still have to update many other pages here, but this is a great start and keeping the website online.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Started up my YouTube Channel

On February 17th, I released my first Vlog on my YouTube Channel.

While I have only released 3 videos (of an intended 9 or 10), I am grateful that I’ve started and setup the platform. The lack of videos for the vlog are a result of my struggle with depression at the end of the month. I will continue to release vlogs and other videos that I hope document my process of building my photography business, personal brand, and pineapple supply co.

Completely inspired by John Saddington, I’ll be tracking my YouTube revenue and channel growth through a public Google spreadsheet. I love being as transparent as possible. I will look to create a detailed landing page like John as well.

I’ve added my February YouTube revenue and growth to the document. It’s a little depressing but it’s not going to stop me from continuing. You can find my revenue details here.

I’d love to produce more videos in March that make up for the missed videos in February. As much personal motivation I have, I’d love if you subscribed to my channel and showed your support.

Any subscriptions, comments, likes, and whatever are very motivational too. I’m currently at 10 subscribers and I’m so grateful for them!

Unsplash Growth with my Photos

As usual, I want to update the insane exposure that we can receive by sharing and giving away our photos through Unsplash (and other sites). I’ve really only been tracking my Unsplash photo stats on a monthly basis. Check out the numbers for February 2017 and all time below (or see the tracking log itself).

I’m not adding many new photos each month, but the numbers just keep growing. My plan is to add as many as possible new photos over spring, summer, and fall. Meaning, I hope you’re following my accounts (@scottwebb & @pineapple).

The stats for my photography shared on Unsplash come from consistently uploading. Seeing this first hand is why I am excited to find consistency related to my vlogs and YouTube channel. There is momentum to be built!

Oh, and I got a rad surprise package from Unsplash too. You’ll have to wait for that vlog to see exactly what they sent me.

Photo Backup Plan

Lastly, I’d just like to share that I FINALLY set up an addition in my backup plan for photos (and other files). I’m not one to have had a great process for backing up my work and it was time to get past that. While my overall backup strategy is still in the works, I feel pretty good knowing that photos and files are backed up through Backblaze (get a free month if you join through this link).

At a price of only $5 a month, it’s a no-brainer to get this set up and backing up your photos and memories. Do you have a cloud backup plan?

A lot of other things

I know that I’m forgetting things but I know that I’ll cover them within the Vlog, eventually. Here’s a quick list of some of the other things I found positive in February!

February is over. March is here.

It’s time to hustle. Take advantage of every possible day to move forward doing what you love. Create something every day.

What was a highlight from your February?
